Reupholstered Flea Market Find

On a rainy Saturday I set off on a design mission with my sister and husband in tow.  We hit the Long Beach Antique Market and found an old piece of furniture that needed at little TLC.  After negotiating a few bucks off of the price the little set of drawers was ours.

We headed to downtown LA to pick up some fabric at Michael Levine and then hit Home Depot for paint.  The process to transform this piece was simple!  A few coats of paint, re-covering the top with new fabric, and some drawer-pulls were all it took.

I chose bright yellow paint and purchased sturdy black patterned fabric for the top.  I also picked up a piece of waterproof vinyl to use as a decorative accent on the top.  This is brilliant because it allows the piece to be used as extra seating AND a side table that guests can put drinks on.  Everyone needs extra storage so the drawers are a sweet added bonus.

The piece of decorative vinyl is easily removable and allows for changing it out often based on season, mood, or a new color pallete.

Next project: Throw pillows that match this seating/table piece.  The pillows stick with the bright yellow motif and will be the perfect items to tie the living room together.  The space will go from a muted neutral palette to a fun space with a few bright pops of color.

Total Cost:
Under $40.00 (including furniture piece and all supplies)
