Living Room Remodel- Gray Walls, Neutral Furniture, and Blue Accents

This living room presented a few challenges that were remedied with large-scale artwork, a neutral pallet, cozy textures, and functional pieces of furniture.

A large and bright painting directs the eye toward the fireplace focal point rather than up to the asymmetrical windows.

A round mirror is used to balance out the empty space to the right of the window and create a more balanced room.

The window seat benches are light enough to move into the backyard or in front of the fireplace when guests come over.

The double coffee tables can be pushed together to create one large table or be pulled apart to serve as side tables or individual diner tables.

The next step?  Installing fabric roman shades in a neutral tone.  When the shades are up it will make the space even MORE cozy.

The inexpensive blue stools add a pop of color and are also multi-functional.

The previous homeowner had the sofa pushed up against the windows.  It is always best to float furniture in a room.  The window is too far away from the entertainment unit and it created a room that felt awkward and cold.  By floating the sofa it is more intimate and you get the added bonus of extra seating below the window.

A mix of textures creates a well designed room.

This sofa table seems to be made for this sofa.  It has a shallow depth but a long enough length.  A sofa table should always cover at least 75% of the space.  You can go with a height that touches just below the sofa, like in this case, or you can go even lower (think coffee table height).
What to do with high windows that are asymmetrical?  The low height of the window apron was also a challenge.  I try to avoid blocking windows.

Navy Blue and Gray Master Bedroom Remodel

A navy blue wall is a perfect way to bring color and drama to the space.  The dark backdrop really makes the black and white artwork pop.

Gray and white gives this bedroom a tranquil and elegant feel while the blue bedding adds color.  By keeping the main pieces neutral it is easy to swap different colors in and out of the space.

I love the urn shaped table lamps that feature unique stripes on the shades.  The stripes on the lamps compliment the striped upholstered bench at the foot of the bed.

The front of this dresser adds warmth and texture to the space.  Want this exact mirror?  Click here or on the image below.

Sheer white curtains dress the side wall and the beige stripes compliment the dresser as well as the bench and lamps.

A white chandelier adds elegance to the space and provides dim romantic lighting.

Mixing florals, checkers, and zig zag stripes can be done!  Keep the tones and colors in the same family and they will surely play well together.

The upholstered headboard and mirrored night stands create a super luxurious sleeping spot.

I love "before and after" shots.  You can really see what a new coat of paint can do when it is paired with the right furniture!
